Anti-Ragging Cell
In compliance with the orders of the Honourable Supreme Court of India, APU condemns all forms of ragging and is committed to taking action on the same.
“RAGGING” has been made a cognisable offence, and it attracts a punishment of rigorous imprisonment of up to three years and a fine of Rs 25,000/- or above. RAGGING has been defined as :
“Any act causing, inducing, compelling or forcing a student, whether by way of a practical joke or otherwise, to do an act which detracts from human dignity or violates his person or exposes him to ridicule or to forbear from doing any unlawful act, by intimidating, wrongfully restraining, wrongfully confining, or injuring him or by using criminal force against him or by holding out to him any threat of such intimidation, wrongful restraint, wrongful confinement, injury or the use of criminal force.”
“Any act of physical or mental abuse (including bullying and exclusion) targeted at another student (fresher or otherwise) on the grounds of colour, race, religion, caste, ethnicity, place of birth, place of residence or economic background.”

Also, the student accused of ragging:
- Will not be recommended for passport application.
- Will be given a transfer certificate with an endorsement of criminal tendency.
- Will be suspended immediately and expelled from APU after completion of the enquiry.
- Will be expelled from APU immediately if the evidence is proved without investigation.
The Anti-ragging Committee and Anti-Ragging Squad have been established to curb the menace of ragging on the campus and other identified places outside the campus. The Nodal Officer will be the registrar, while the counsellors will be responsible for providing counselling to the students.
As per the guidelines of the UGC Act, 1956, Apex Professional University constituted an Anti-Ragging Cell on all their campuses. The objectives of this cell are to:
- Make students aware of the dehumanising effects of ragging.
- Keep a strict vigil over and prevent the occurrence of any such activities.
- Promptly and effectively deal with any such incidents to ensure they do not occur again.
- Deliberate and decide upon suitable forms of punishment as per the nature of the ragging incident, and
- Establish a culture that does not tolerate any form of ragging, be it mental, physical, or verbal.
