Apex Professional University — usually just APU — is a state private university in Pasighat, East Siang district, Arunachal Pradesh, established under [INSERT Act name and year — VERIFY] and recognised by the University Grants Commission under Section 2(f) [VERIFY and link directly to the UGC list entry].

Is APU a UGC recognised university?

Yes. Apex Professional University is a state private university established by an Act of the Arunachal Pradesh legislature and recognised by the UGC under Section 2(f). [VERIFY the Act, the year and the UGC listing, and link directly to both.]

You should verify this yourself rather than take our word for it, and the same goes for every institution you are considering. On Section 12(B): state private universities are generally not eligible for 12(B) status, because that provision concerns eligibility for central government grants to publicly funded institutions. Its absence is normal for a university of this type and is not a recognition issue. That distinction is explained in the same post.

On programme approvals: university recognition and programme approval are separate, and each professional programme needs its own regulator’s approval — PCI for pharmacy, INC and the state council for nursing, BCI for law, NCTE for education. 

Where exactly is it, and how do you get there?

Pasighat, in East Siang district, on the Siang river. It is one of Arunachal Pradesh’s oldest towns.

From Assam: Dibrugarh is roughly [VERIFY] away by road, Tinsukia [VERIFY], Guwahati [VERIFY]. For students from Upper Assam this is genuinely closer than most options within their own state.

By air: Pasighat airport, with connections to [VERIFY current routes]. Dibrugarh airport in Assam is the larger nearby option.

What does it cost?

Publish the total annual figure, not just tuition. Almost no university website in the region does, and doing it is a genuine differentiator that costs you nothing but candour. Students and parents compare tuition figures, discover the extras later, and remember which institution told them upfront.

Hostel, mess and campus facilities

The section parents read most carefully. Be specific.

Be honest about what is not there. If there is no on-campus ATM, say so. A page that lists only positives is read as a page that is hiding something, and parents in particular read it that way.

How big is APU, and is that a problem?

Let us take the question as it is usually meant.

APU is a smaller and newer institution than the large state universities in Assam. That is simply true, and it has consequences in both directions.

What smaller genuinely gives you: faculty who know your name, practical sessions where you get time on the equipment rather than watching from the back, and the ability to get a problem in front of someone who can solve it. In large departments these are not available at any price.

What it does not give you: the breadth of a large university, a huge alumni network, or the depth of extracurricular activity you would find at an institution with twenty thousand students.

Who this suits: students who want to be taught rather than lectured, and who would rather be one of thirty than one of three hundred. Who it does not: students who want a large campus with everything on it. Both are reasonable preferences and you should know which one is yours before you apply anywhere.

What is it actually like to study there?
